Steam Hydration At Sugar Salon

We value our clients and the condition of their hair and therefore, we offer "Steam Hydration Therapy" .  We have three steamers, because our clients love it so much. And unlike more salons in Atlanta, we do not charge $25 for a steam hydration treatment, we charge $10 to $20 depending on what kind of treatment you get with it. This service is used to infuse moist heat into the hair , which will infuse protein, oils and more nurturing products into your hair to stop: breakage, flaky/itchy scalp shedding, dry hair and more. The steam moisturizes and relaxes the skin and tissues.Steam Therapy is a deep conditioning treatment using water/steam, which is changed into vapor/steam form when heat is applied. The molecular size molecule penetrates the hair fibers and releases moisture into the hair.

The benefits to using Steam Hydration Therapy are:
  • Improve elasticity of the hair - This is the ability of the hair strand to be stretched without breaking. If the hair has no elasticity, it is easy to break and split. Steam Hydration Therapy helps to resolve this.
  • Healthy Cuticle - The hair cuticle is a thin outer layer of the hair. After the Steam Hydration Treatment, the hydrated hair strand will cause the hair to be silky smooth, shiny and have body and not lay limp.
  • The Hairs Integrity - The integrity is the way in which the hair behaves. The moisture that will be infused into the hair by Steam Hydration Therapy, will cause your hair to be more managable and well behaved. Dry hair will always be brittle and not behave as well as hydrated hair.
  • Environmental Changes: Changes in our environment and the world around us means that we must change the way we care for our hair and our scalp. Constant exposure to our elements and harsh products, chemicals, stress and medications can cause damage to our hair.
If you are experiencing:
  • Dry Hair
  • Breakage
  • Color Treated Hair
  • Dull Hair
  • Natural Hair
  • Relaxed or Permed Hair
  • Hair Strengtheners
  • Brittle Hair
  • Itchy or Flaky Scalp
Steam Hyrdration Therapy will definately benefit every client. We strongly recommend these treatments for clients experiencing any of the item's indicated above. These treatments will improve the appearance and condition of your hair and scalp. Sign up in our GuestBook via the salon website at www.sugarsalon.net for more information.

Seven tips for healthy hair!

Every woman desires to have healthy, brilliant, shiny hair! Who wants damaged, broken, unhealthy hair? The answer is "nobody". There are at least 7-tips to acheiving healthy hair and if you follow them, you are on the way to having healthy hair:

(1) Find a professional licensed Hair Stylist who specializes in more than just trendy cuts, trendy color and trendy styles. Find a Stylist who knows hair care, attend classes on a regular basis, if you don't have a Stylist, find one in your area and go for a free consultation and sit down and chat with him or her about your hair care concerns prior to choosing the professional.

(2) Please don't go to a Stylist who does hair in their house or is unlicensed, just to save $5 or $10. You want the best car. the best house, the best Doctor and you should also want the best Hair Stylist and you deserve to go to a salon and not have your hair services done in someone's kitchen.

(3) Cut back on eating out for lunch and "brown bag it" and use the extra money saved for bi-weekly salon visits. I recommend bi-weekly salon visits. There's nothing better than having your tresses (hair) bathed in professional hair products that only a licensed professional can purchase.

(4) Don't buy so called professional products ie. Paul Mitchell, Kera Care, Design Essential, Redken or other professional salon products in a beauty supply store. Reason being is that the products could be tampered with and on most professional products you will find a clause or statement indicating that the authenticity is not guaranteed unless purchased from a Product Distributor or Hair Salon. You can safely purchase authentic products at Sugar Salon. Support an American-Owned business by purchasing your products at Sugar Salon.

(5) Never do your own relaxers or hair color. Damage is going to occur in most cases when a non-stylist does their own chemical service.

(6) Don't over do it with braided hair styles. This can result in severe hairloss around the temples and more. I see women with traction alopecia because they have worn tightly braided hair styles for too long.

(7) Found a good Stylist? Stick with him or her, stop jumping from chair to chair. Stay faithful to your Stylist, stop shop hopping. It will only result in hairloss.

There are even more tips, but seven is enough to start with. Start with these tips and see your hair improve.

Curly Perms: The Saga Continues..........

Wow, I never knew that when I was in Cosmetology School the curly perm was going to make a comeback. Everyone remembers the rage of the Jheri Curl "back in the day". Those glorious wet dripping curls. That trend came in and fazed out, but only after being popular for way too long. But Wave Nouveau has a moisturizing mouse that will keep your hair moisturized without having the "wet look", but with the dry look.

Curly Perms has made a HUGE comeback because a lot of women have gone natural, but find that natural hair is a lot of upkeep. Therefore a lot of women are opting to have the curly perm process done. And in doing so, they are aiming to have hair that looks naturally curly and dry, not wet. They obtain this look by getting the curly perm done with larger sized rods and using the Wave Nouveau Moisture Mouse, which leaves the hair dry, not wet. Everyone will look at your hair and think that you have natural hair, when all the while you are werking a curly perm.

Whether it be Wave Nouveau, Care Free Curl or any of the other professional curly perm products, they all contain the same chemical ingredient and you definitely CAN NOT get a curly perm process done if you have relaxed hair. And in doing so, all of your hair will fall out, which is why you should only consult a licensed Stylist when considering a curly perm. There are not a lot of Stylists who know how to perform this process, so choose wisely. I have been doing curly perms on clients since the early 80's and hope to do yours. I love doing curly perms. Do you need a curly perm and can't find a Stylist? Give me a call, I'll be honored to service you. Just call Sugar Salon in Duluth Georgia at 770 813-7718 and ask for M. Williams and let me work my wonders. My fav curly perm product to use is Carefree Curl; it's "tried and true" and has been out for many years, I used in it in the early 80's and it's still being used and manufactured.
