Steam Hydration At Sugar Salon

We value our clients and the condition of their hair and therefore, we offer "Steam Hydration Therapy" .  We have three steamers, because our clients love it so much. And unlike more salons in Atlanta, we do not charge $25 for a steam hydration treatment, we charge $10 to $20 depending on what kind of treatment you get with it. This service is used to infuse moist heat into the hair , which will infuse protein, oils and more nurturing products into your hair to stop: breakage, flaky/itchy scalp shedding, dry hair and more. The steam moisturizes and relaxes the skin and tissues.Steam Therapy is a deep conditioning treatment using water/steam, which is changed into vapor/steam form when heat is applied. The molecular size molecule penetrates the hair fibers and releases moisture into the hair.

The benefits to using Steam Hydration Therapy are:
  • Improve elasticity of the hair - This is the ability of the hair strand to be stretched without breaking. If the hair has no elasticity, it is easy to break and split. Steam Hydration Therapy helps to resolve this.
  • Healthy Cuticle - The hair cuticle is a thin outer layer of the hair. After the Steam Hydration Treatment, the hydrated hair strand will cause the hair to be silky smooth, shiny and have body and not lay limp.
  • The Hairs Integrity - The integrity is the way in which the hair behaves. The moisture that will be infused into the hair by Steam Hydration Therapy, will cause your hair to be more managable and well behaved. Dry hair will always be brittle and not behave as well as hydrated hair.
  • Environmental Changes: Changes in our environment and the world around us means that we must change the way we care for our hair and our scalp. Constant exposure to our elements and harsh products, chemicals, stress and medications can cause damage to our hair.
If you are experiencing:
  • Dry Hair
  • Breakage
  • Color Treated Hair
  • Dull Hair
  • Natural Hair
  • Relaxed or Permed Hair
  • Hair Strengtheners
  • Brittle Hair
  • Itchy or Flaky Scalp
Steam Hyrdration Therapy will definately benefit every client. We strongly recommend these treatments for clients experiencing any of the item's indicated above. These treatments will improve the appearance and condition of your hair and scalp. Sign up in our GuestBook via the salon website at www.sugarsalon.net for more information.

Relaxers... Sodium Hydroxide -vs- Calcium Hydroxide/No-Lye

Many clients want to know the difference between sodium hydroxide relaxers and no-lye (calcium hydroxide) relaxers. Well, the difference is the chemical makeup of the two. The sodium hydroxide relaxers are the more commonly used in professional salons. Sodium Hydroxide is the main chemical ingredient that straightens the hair, these relaxers have a less drying effect on the hair and they are usually only sold to licensed professionals. Although they are less drying on the hair, they do tend to irritate the scalp a bit more, causing the scalp to itch and burn faster than the calcium hydroxide (no lye) relaxers. The No Lye Relaxers contain Calcium Hydroxide and are less irritating on the scalp, causing less itching and burning during the relaxer process. Most Stylist's use no lye relaxers if a client informs them that they have a "sensitive scalp". I am personally not a fan of using no lye relaxers and do not offer them to my clients because the Calcium Hydroxide causes a...
